Here’s what I’ve learned from the third Twilight movie: the only power of women is to kill themselves at appropriate points in the narrative.

That gave me an idea. How about exploring this ability in RPGs? How will story be played out, if a character has this ability? At first my thought was to write a (Fastaval-style) scenario, that were build on a character having this ability. However all I really lacked was just a role-playing system and a scenario in which I could cram the character into. That brought me initially in the direction of The Shadow of Yesterday/Solar System, which is my go-to system when not using a traditional adventure game, as that would typically be a d20-system instead. From TSoY my thoughts went quickly to Lady Blackbird, and then it was really just create a new character.
That became the character Isa Yemer with the ability to die (and to return to life again) – and to sharpen the theme I have tried to build her traits and keys on a satirical interpretation of the Twilight books’ main character (without me however having read the books or seen the movies).

- Download Lady Blackbird here – a strange and fascinating little role-playing game, which is a good example of how simple a game can be done – and try it with Isa for a different experience.
- My own experience with Lady Blackbird a long time ago.
